Dare to Dream Urban Network Will Meet the Needs of Minorities
Three Angels Broadcasting Network officials announced today that they will launch a new television network aimed at meeting the needs of African Americans and other minorities who live in urban areas. 3ABN’s Dare to Dream Network will begin 24-hour broadcasting beginning December 1, 2010, initially on the Internet, but officials say they hope to soon make it available on satellite and cable systems across the United States.
“This is an idea whose time has come,” says 3ABN president, Jim Gilley. “The idea of an urban network holds great promise for reaching a huge segment of our population that may not otherwise know Jesus. I’m very excited about 3ABN’s Dare to Dream Network.”
3ABN’s administration appointed Dr. Yvonne Lewis as the new general manager for the network. “There are many challenges confronting our inner cities—poverty, crime, erosion of the family unit, chronic diseases, and spiritual decline, just to name a few,” Lewis says. “3ABN’s Dare to Dream Network will meet the needs of urban residents by offering socially relevant programming from parenting to nutrition, from healthy lifestyles to relationships, and from crime prevention to money management. But most importantly, we will introduce them to their loving Savior.”
3ABN founder, Danny Shelton, says, “We need to be more than onlookers. We need to step up to the plate and take personal responsibility for our brothers and sisters in the inner cities. The idea for this network has been in the works for several years, and we’re excited to see how the Lord has brought it all together.” Dr. Lewis says that initially they will rely heavily on programs already produced by 3ABN, but many more series are in development. “Media is the best way to reach millions of people that would not ordinarily enter a church,” she says, “and we want to become a household name by offering programming that touches the hearts of young and old alike.”
Dare to Dream will be available December 1, 2010 on 3ABN’s website, www.3abn.org.
